The Vital Records Department is responsible for issuing Birth and Death Certificates. The department is also responsible for reporting all Marriage and Civil Union Licenses (see below) issued in Teller to the State of Colorado.

Teller County Birth and Death records cover Cripple Creek, Elkton, Anaconda, Lawrence, Florissant, Gillette, Goldfield, Victor, Divide, Woodland Park and some areas of Green Mountain Falls. Birth and Death records were not required in Colorado until 1910 but some records are available as early as 1876.

Historical death certificates are only available in the county of death. All requests must be handled through the Public Health & Environment Office in Divide.

From 1910 to the present, electronic copies of birth and death certificates for any Colorado county may be obtained through this office.
