This page is the central source for information about food assistance, donations, and local support for residents in Teller County and eastern Park County during the temporary SNAP disruption. Because some households may not receive their normal SNAP benefit, Teller County is coordinating with local food pantries and community partners so people know where to go, who to contact, and how to help if they’re able.

We know changes to SNAP can create stress and uncertainty. It’s okay to ask for help. Local nonprofits, faith-based groups, and behavioral-health partners are working together so you don’t have to figure this out alone. Food resources, mental health care, and community support are available through the Teller County Mental Health Alliance. If you’re struggling to make ends meet or feeling anxious, please reach out.

You can dial 988 anytime for emotional support.

Teller County’s response to the SNAP disruption has been guided by teamwork, compassion, and a genuine commitment to our residents. Local nonprofits, food pantries, faith-based groups, and volunteers have worked together to make sure families have access to the help they need.

County employees, community partners, and volunteers from across Teller County have joined in, donating food, time, and resources to support the effort. Residents across Teller County have shown remarkable generosity, with neighbors supporting one another through food and monetary donations.

The Teller County Commissioners, along with the Sheriff’s Office and Commander Kevin Tedesco, have worked beside these partners visiting donation sites, coordinating with volunteers, and showing appreciation for those who serve our community every day. The slideshow and video below capture these efforts in action, highlighting the unity and shared purpose behind the Teller County Cares Food Initiative.

SNAP Benefits Notice

Due to the federal government shutdown, SNAP benefits for the month of November 2025 will be unavailable. Teller County and the state of Colorado have no control over the release of these funds.

Applicants applying between Oct. 16–31 will only receive October benefits for the days they are eligible in October. (Example: If someone applies on Oct. 31, they will only receive one day of benefits due to the hold on November benefits.)

Please keep an eye out for text, email, and mail notifications from the state of Colorado with more information. Additionally, check your PEAK account for information on benefits going forward.

At this time, it is unclear whether benefits will be issued retroactively once the shutdown ends or whether future months will be impacted should the shutdown continue. Currently, Medicaid benefits are still set to operate as usual during November.

If you need more food resources during the government shutdown, we encourage you to reach out to your local food banks or community agencies in your area:
